Glebe Theater Lottery Closes

September 19th, MIDNIGHT

Glebe Theater will hold its’ third production later this calendar year!  For information regarding the theater program, please click here:

Students interested in participating in the production must enter a lottery. The lottery will close September 19th at MIDNIGHT. To register for the lottery, you can sign up here:

Odyssey of the Mind Information Session / Spontaneous Problem Solving

September 25th, 7:00 pm: Glebe Library

The Odyssey of the Mind program will kick off with an information session on Tuesday, September 25th at 7:00 pm in the Glebe Library. Additionally, The Odyssey Team will be holding spontaneous problem solving sessions for students in 3rd – 5th grade, starting on Friday, September 25th at 3:45 in the Glebe Library. For information regarding the program, including kick off session dates for specific grades can be found here:

Glebe Nourishment Program

The Glebe Food Pantry operates on the goodwill of volunteers and your donation of food. All food  donated to the pantry goes to Glebe families. In our experience, the following items are most needed:

  • Sugar
  • Flour
  • Cooking oil
  • Bags of dried beans
  • Maseca flour for tortilla
  • Canned food or vegetables
  • Dried pasta
  • Jars of spaghetti sauce
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly or jam
  • Breakfast cereals
  • Boxes of macaroni and cheese
  • Gift cards to Safeway / Harris Teeter / Giant

The donations of items is ongoing – it is not a onetime collection. Please consider purchasing an extra item in your regular grocery shopping and donating it to the pantry.  Donations can be placed in the basket in the Glebe Lobby.

AFAC Food Drive

September 24 – 28th

September is National  Hunger Action Month.  Please bring in  non-perishable canned goods (vegetables, fruit, tuna), cereals, peanut butter and jelly are needed.  Please help us support Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC)!

  • Please consider bringing in food and toiletries for our Glebe Support initiative. Cart is in the Front Lobby!
  • Have used crayons? Our broken, used crayons are being collected and re-purposed. Just drop them off in the main office collection bin or in your child’s classroom!

Tuesday: “Root, Root Root for your Teachers Team” – – Students wear their teachers & staff favorite team shirt or color

Wednesday: “Double Header Dessert & Snack Day” – – Show our teachers and staff how SWEET they are!

Thursday: “7th Inning Stretch” – – Show our teachers how they make our children BLOOM by bringing them a flower!

Friday: “Lunchtime Tailgate” – – Catered Lunch

National Bike to School Day

Join kids around the nation as they ride their bikes to school today!

Note: Walk, Ride and Roll will take place on this day as well!

Odyssey of The Mind Fundraiser

May 16th, Joe’s Pizza and Pasta ALL DAY

You can continue to support the 4th Grade Girls Odyssey of the Mind Team as they raise funds for their quest for World Finals! Visit Joe’s Place Pizza and Pasta Wednesday, May 16th Dine in OR Carry Out and mention The Glebe Odyssey of the Mind Team and a portion of the funds raised will be donated to the girls team.

Save the Date – – Glebe Dining Night

May 23rd, 5 pm

With games and after school activities, who has time for dinner?  Well on May 23rd, you don’t need to worry!  Go to District Taco after 5pm and mention Glebe, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the PTA.

Williamsburg Middle School PTA Seeks Volunteers!

Is your child going to Williamsburg in the fall? Here is your chance to get involved!  The Williamsburg MS PTA Nominating Committee is working to find and select a slate of officers for the WMS PTA for the 2018-19 school year. The Nominating Committee is looking for a candidate for VP-Internal, who oversees many of the committee chairs (hospitality, teacher appreciation, courtyard, classroom grants). Please contact Anne Betz, Chair of the Nominating Committee, for more information or to express interest in this position at

The Nominating Committee and Executive Board are also looking for volunteers for Committee Chair positions next year. There are lots of opportunities – we can find you a position in which you are interested! Some of the open positions include the following:

  • 6th Grade Activity Chairs
  • ACI Representative (need 2)
  • CCPTA Representative
  • No-Frills Fundraiser Chair
  • PTA Membership Chair (new!)
  • PALS Day Hospitality Chair
  • Welcome Back Cupcake Social Chair
  • 8th Grade Promotion Hospitality Chair (cannot be 8th grade parent)

Bake Sale Thank You!

A big THANK YOU for all the amazing bake sale donations. The bake sale was a wonderful success. All profits will go towards costs of the upcoming Odyssey worlds experience.
