Glebe’s Community Service Event
The new PTA Community Service Committee will kick off with a Family Stream Clean Up on Sunday, 9/24 from 3 – 5 pm at Bon Air Park (850 North Lexington St) near the rose garden. Enjoy an afternoon outside and help Arlington restore its natural spaces. This is a great way to meet new families, visit with old friends and clean up our community.
- Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to get dirty.
- Bring rubber gloves
- Wear your Glebe T-Shirt if possible
- Trash bags will be provided.
- This is a family event, so please don’t drop off your child.

President’s Corner
I’ve mentioned a few times how awesome Glebe’s community is and I think it’s important to share how we give back. Did you know we have Glebe Nourishment (formerly known as Glebe Pantry) which stocks non-perishable food for our families in need? There is a cart in the front lobby you can drop off needed items (such as: bags of dried beans, mesa flour, canned fruit, oil, cereal, pasta). Those items are very much needed now. We also have a Food Bus which collects unused and unopened food at lunch time and redistributes it to families in need. Please encourage your kids to leave unopened and unused food on the “share table” at lunch. The collected food is distributed to families each Friday. Please see www.glebepta.org/give/glebe-cares for more information on this invaluable resource.
Quick reminders: Our first PTA meeting of the school year is 9/20 at 7 pm in the Glebe library. Free childcare is provided for all potty-trained kids.
Lastly, we’d love for you to join the PTA. Together we can do amazing things for our kids. www.glebepta.org/join.
As always, give me a call, email or just talk to me at Glebe if you have a question or suggestion!
Update from the Principal
The organization of our little parking lot can be confusing in the beginning of the year but overall, I have been very impressed with how quickly folks have learned the parking lot procedures! I would like to ask parents/guardians/nannies to please not be on your cell phones while driving through the parking lot and to watch your speed, no one needs to be in a hurry in a school parking lot, it is too dangerous.
Morning Drop Off: Please plan to use the kiss and drop in the morning if you have to drive your child to school. This is a very convenient procedure meant to eliminate the need for parking and designed for family convenience. Patrols are on Duty until 8:50 only.
Afternoon Pick Up: is meant to work the same as drop off, please drive up to the kiss and drop and your child will be released by a staff member to walk to your car. Do not park your car in the kiss and drop and get out and look for your child, this causes major backups and is dangerous.
Church Parking Lot: is for parking only, it is not to be used as a “kiss and drop”. Please only use the school entrance to access the parking lot, we have been asked to not use the side access road.
