Virtual Girl Scouts Information Session

Wednesday, May 7 at 7 pm

A meeting Virtual Daisy Troop Formation for incoming Kindergarteners will be held on Wed., May 20 at 7 pm.  Contact us HERE for the webinar link!   Learn about Girl Scouts and how your girls can make new friends, build confidence, and become so much more!

APS Updates

APS has named a new superintendent.  The School Board appointed Dr. Francisco Durán as the new Superintendent of APS, following a five-month search process. Dr. Durán has an extensive background in education spanning 26 years, including superintendent and top-level leadership experience. Dr. Durán will formally assume the role of Superintendent on June 1. Read the full release.

APS has launched “One Book-One School.”  From May 11 – 22 we will be reading “Save Me a Seat” by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan. This story with two narrators has a great message of including others who are different and celebrating newcomers. On each school day during the May event, we will share a special activity connected to a set of chapters in the book. We’ll ask families to read along with us starting on May 11. If anyone wants to get a copy ahead of time, it is available as a paperback for less than $7 (new). It is on Amazon. Our local book shop, One More Page, also has access to copies (and they ship!). For those who prefer to support our libraries, Arlington Public Library has both e- and audio book options. Best of all, it is available for free as an audiobook in Junior Library Guild through the end of May. Just go to:  (username: JLGELM  password: JLGFREE.

Due to these unprecedented times, please be aware of the new requirements for this PTA Zoom platform event:
1. No group entries (except siblings in the same household), only individual performances will be allowed.
2. Respectful listening is important.
3. All participants will be muted until their performance.
4. Parents will need to sit with their child during the performance
5. All participants should sign up with their child’s name and title of their piece on the attached google document
6.  PTA will send the Zoom link in advance of Virtual Rhyme & Cheese.

Yearbook Orders Are Open!

Orders for the Glebe Yearbook remain open!  We are close, but still have not hit our quota for yearbook orders for the 2019-20 school year.  The link to purchase is here and the Glebe code is 13276020.

Community Giving Updates

Glebe Community Building is an ongoing initiative to help families living within the Glebe School boundary who need extra support during this time.  Many families continue to receive assistance, and we still need donations to purchase grocery store gift cards.  Thank you to everyone for your support, and spread the word! Donations should be made to the Glebe Community Giving account via PayPal at Reminder, this is not managed by the PTA but we support this initiative and will keep you updated weekly.

Auction Moves Online

May 31-June 7

This year’s Glebe Auction will be held online.  Bidding begins at 8PM on Sunday, May 31, and ends at 8PM on Sunday, June 7.  We will provide information on how to register for online bidding and access the online catalog as the event draws closer.  Just like in prior years, the items you’ve come to know and love, such as Glebe Experiences, Teacher Donations, and Classroom Projects, will be available, alongside donations from our generous community, families, and supporters. Also, we will host a special portion of the online bidding in a live format, with designated live auction items, on Sunday, June 7, beginning at 8PM.

The Golden Raffle Live Auction Ticket is still in effect. For $100, you have the chance to “steal” any item of your choice from the live auction items (see rules and restrictions HERE). Golden Raffle ticket holders are invited to watch the drawing online on Sunday, May 31, at 7:30PM, and have your cell phone and choice ready. You must be available at 7:30 PM to claim your prize! You can still buy Golden Tickets here.

For those who have purchased a drink band to the 2020 Social & Auction, please consider making your drink band purchase a donation; alternatively, you can use your drink band purchase as credit towards a purchase during the online auction, or as a drink band for the 2021 Social & Auction.  Please email to confirm your preference.  Refunds are also available.
