“Power Pack” Fundraiser for Food For Others
February 3rd, 2-4 pm – Glebe Multipurpose Room
Bring your Superbowl spirit to Glebe on Sunday before the big game!
The Glebe Community Service Committee proudly presents the 2nd Annual “Start the New Year Off Helping Others” – a Fundraiser for Food for Others, an award-winning nonprofit that fights hunger in our community by distributing donated food to NoVA residents and their kids.
We invite you to bring your kids to help pack “Power Packs” (see pic below) for children who may not have enough to eat during the weekends when they are without access to school feeding programs. A Power Pack is a bag that supplies children with two sets of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks of non-perishable foods that are easy to make and consume over a weekend.

Glebe Green Team
What is the Glebe Green Team? The Green Team is a group of 3rd-5th graders that meet monthly to work on ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle at Glebe. Most recently, 3rd graders made posters of what can and can’t be recycled in the cafeteria. This week 4th and 5th graders are putting finishing touches on presentations they will use to promote the importance of recycling correctly and reducing the amount of trash we make. They are looking forward to presenting in classrooms in the weeks to come.
According to The Water Project, it’s estimated that up to 80 percent of water bottles in the United States never get recycled. In addition, it takes three times the amount of water that’s in a water bottle to create the bottle in the first place! The Water Project also notes that, “U.S. landfills are overflowing with 2 million tons of discarded water bottles alone.” So getting a BPA-free water bottle shows the earth – and your wallet – love.
If you have any ideas or talents you would like to share with the Green Team, we would welcome the support. Contact Toni Wexler at email@example.com
