PTA Meeting
Tuesday, February 4, 7pm
Our next PTA meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb 4th at 7pm in the Glebe library. Carolyn Jackson, Supervisor of the APS Office of Equity & Excellence, will come to talk about what APS is doing to promote equity in out schools, and Chuchi Arevalo from Spark Academy will talk about how to raise financially responsible kids. We will have child care for all potty trained children during the meeting and Spanish translation will be provided. If you have an agenda item you’d like to discuss at an upcoming meeting, please send it to glebepta@gmail.com.
Book Swap
Thursday, February 6, 7-8pm
Glebe’s annual Book Swap will be held Thursday, Feb. 6 from 7-8pm in the Multipurpose Room. Drop off your gently used books in the school lobby anytime between Monday, Jan. 27 and Thursday, Feb. 6. (Kindergarten and up, no preschool books please!) The books will be collected and sorted throughout the week in preparation for the swap. Come with your kids to the multi-purpose room between 7-8pm on Feb. 6 and pick up a few “new to you” books for your family – all FREE! (Bring a bag!) As with all PTA events, your help is greatly needed and appreciated. You can sign up here. Thanks in advance!

Multicultural Night
Thursday, February 20, 6:30pm
Multicultural Night will be held Thursday, Feb. 20 starting at 6:30pm. This year’s theme will be “Hello to the Children of the World” and each table will teach Glebers how to say “hello” in a different language. Directory Update!
The first update of the online Glebe directory has been completed! You can access it from the PTA website under the “Directory” tab or by clicking here. A limited number of printed copies will be available in the Glebe front office by request and we will send an update when these are available. Jan. 30—Pub
lic Hearing on Elementary School Planning
The School Board will hold a Public Hearing on Elementary School Planning at 7 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the Syphax Education Center (2110 Washington Blvd.). If the Public Hearing needs to be rescheduled due to inclement weather on Jan. 30, it will take place at 6 p.m. on Feb. 6, before the meeting at which the School Board is scheduled to take action on this initiative. The School Board webpage has information about how to speak at meetings and public hearings, and how to view these live online.
Through Feb. 28—2020 Your Voice Matters Survey
APS encourages families, students in grades 4-12, staff and teachers to participate in the 2020 Your Voice Matters survey before Feb. 28 to share insight on such topics as school and community climate, well-being, and engagement. The survey is confidential and administered by Panorama Education, which sent survey information to families via email or U.S. mail on Jan. 13. Online Summer Camp Sale
Sunday, February 23
Announcing the Online Summer Camp Sale on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020 at 8pm, hosted by the Glebe PTA Social & Auction Committee!
This year, several summer camps have donated a day, week, or a discount to attend their camps. We will offer those camps for sale to you at a discounted price and all proceeds will go directly to the Glebe PTA. Camps confirmed so far include:

•American Inline Bike Riding Camp;
•Synetic Theater Camp;
•ETC Theater Camp;
•Jane Franklin Dance Camp;
•TIC (Technology & Sports) Camp;
•Arlington Arts Summer Camp;

•SPARK Financial Literacy Summer Camp;
•Camp Hidden Meadows;
•Pentagon Mixed Martial Arts Camp; and
•Everwonder Camp.
As we continue our efforts to reach out to more camps, there will be more to consider. We will share the registration address and more information about the online sale prior to the Camp Sale.

Dining Night at Nando’s Peri-Peri
Wednesday, February 26, 5-10pm
Need dinner and want a night out? Then head over to Nando’s PERi PERi – Ballston at 4401 Wilson Blvd. and have some tasty chicken, salads, and sides (see https://www.nandosperiperi.com/)! Nando’s chicken dishes originally come from southern Africa with a Portuguese twist. Peri Peri is the chili that grows in Mozambique and gives Nando’s chicken its unique flavor.
Nando’s Ballston will be generosly contributing 40% of Glebe sales and Glebe families will need to print or show this flyer from their mobile phones. Please come on out to have some tasty chicken and support Glebe PTA!
Glebe 2020 - NandosSave the Date: STEM Night
Mark your calendars for the Glebe STEM Night on March 11 from 6:30-8:00pm and get ready for an amazing night of invention and discovery by our young scientists and engineers!!! We do need a few hands to help make the night go smoothly so please sign up here if you’re available. Display boards will be on sale before school and on the evening of February 20 for $3. If you have questions, please contact our STEM Night coordinator, Rachael Scholz.
