December 3, 6 – 8pm

Want to get a jump start on gifts for the upcoming holidays? Then stop over at Barston’s Child’s Play on December 3rd from 6 – 8pm! Located at 4510 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA 22207, this Arlington store is a local favorite and they have awesome toys, books, and other items! Barstons recently supplied all of the books for our recent author event with Ginjer Clarke!
Glebe Elementary PTA will receive a percentage of all sales that evening, so come out and shop till you drop! For more info about this wonderful store, please click here.

BFF Snack Showcase

The Glebe BFF (Brains, Food & Fitness) team held a Healthy Snack pop up on Monday (11/25) in the cafeteria.  Kids were offered samples of “Off the Eaten Path” Veggie Crisps.  We picked this snack because they are healthy, free of all major allergens, and have a good amount of protein & fiber.  Guess what?  Kids liked them!

LOTS of kids asked for seconds and inquired about where to get them.  We purchased these at Costco, but they are available at Walmart, Target, Amazon and all major grocery stores.  Thanks to the wonderful parent volunteers for helping dole out snacks – Amy LaFalce, Shelley Maniscalco, Ali Collins & Lauren Barber.

Letters for the Troops

December 6 (US Troops)

Every year, the Glebe community has the opportunity to make holiday cards for our troops serving in the military.  Many classes write letters or make cards, but this year, we are expending the opportunity and inviting you to make cards as a family.  Cards and letters can be dropped off in the main office through the morning of December 6.

Glebe PTA Joins Instagram! Directory Goes Digital!

Glebe PTA is moving further into the 21st century!  There is a Glebe PTA account on Instagram.  You can follow us @glebeelementarypta.  Also new for this school year is an online Glebe directory.  Families had the opportunity to opt in to the directory on ParentVue, and updated contact information will be reviewed and included.  Stay tuned for an update in the coming weeks!

Glebe Holiday Tags

Gifts are due December 12

Each year, the Glebe Elementary School community works together to provide holiday gifts to Glebe students and their siblings who might not be able to enjoy the happiest of holidays. We need your help to make the holidays happy for all Glebe students.

If you would like to participate in this program and purchase a gift or gifts for these children in need, please contact Beronica Salas for a “Tag” and details on how to fulfill a holiday wish.  Ms. Salas’s office is located on Glebe’s 1st Floor.  Gifts are due by Thursday, Dec. 12.

Arlington Gifts that Give Hope Fair

Saturday, December 7

Join us for the 9th Annual Arlington Gifts That Give Hope Fair on Saturday, December 7th from 10am-2pm, hosted at Arlington Science Focus School. This year, the alternative gift giving fair is supporting 18 nonprofits, including a special Kids Fair with a $5 Children’s Shopping List and activities provided by Tiny Chefs and Skill Builders for kids to enjoy while you shop.

Online shopping is now open! Visit giftsthatgivehope.org/arlington for more details, and to shop online through Friday, December 20th.

Yearbook Photos Needed!

Year in and year out, Glebe always has a fantastic yearbook! To make it shine again this year, the designers want to include as many photos of kids and teachers in action as possible. Your help contributing photos you have taken in the school (or at other Glebe events) will be most appreciated!  A Google Drive is in place to house photos, and folders by grade and activity have been created to keep track of different homerooms, specials, resource teachers, events, etc.  Please contribute, and thanks for your help!
