Multicultural Night

Multicultural Night is a celebration of the international flavor of Glebe Elementary School. Did you know that Glebe students speak more than 30 different languages at home? Our annual event showcases our diverse backgrounds and gives students an opportunity to explore our world – while traveling the halls of Glebe!

Date: February 20, 2020

Time: 6:30-8:00 pm

Location: Glebe multipurpose room

Students will “travel” from one country to the next visiting displays, talking with the hosts, and getting their passports stamped along the way. This year’s theme is “Hello to All the Children of the World!” Students will learn to say “hello” in many different languages as we celebrate the diversity that is Glebe.

Represent a Country! Put Together a Display Table

The Multicultural Night Committee is looking for volunteers to represent countries at this year’s event. To sponsor a country, you put together a 6-foot table display that can be simple or elaborate. Most displays include posters, artifacts, books, music, or videos, etc. Some hosts bring small food items or giveaways for students.

Remember, you do not have to be from that country to put together a display! Some classrooms, Girls Scout or Boy Scout Troops, or just groups of families put together a display for fun as an extra learning project. Some families put together displays about places where they have lived and traveled for work.

  • Are you from a country you would like to represent at Multicultural Night?
  • Have you traveled abroad and would like to share your experience?
  • Do you have family or ancestors from another culture you want to learn more about?
  • Would you like to research another country as a family or school group?

If you said “YES,” you could be one of this year’s country sponsors!

Please contact our Multicultural Night Committee chair, Feven Woldu (email),

We often can find sponsors for Thailand, Nicaragua, Hungary, Portugal, Japan, Jordan, Moldova, Eritrea, Brazil, Slovakia, Romania, Morocco, Honduras, Philippines, India, Austria, and Pakistan. We are looking for more! Sign up for any country.
